9 Simple Ways To Remove Age Spots Naturally

Are you troubled by the increasing presence of flat, brown spots on your face, chest, hands, or body? 😟

Β

If you answered yes, you may have noticed these marks referred to as age spots, liver spots, or hyperpigmentation, which tend to become more prominent as we age. Skin pigmentation issues can also be known by various names such as hyperpigmentation, freckles, sunspots, age spots, liver spots, lentigines, melasma, chloasma, hormonal pigmentation, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Β

While age spots are typically benign, many individuals, me included, find them unattractive and wish to get rid of age spots. πŸ˜” However, if you have irregular, dark spots that are increasing in size or changing in colour/texture, it is advisable to consult a doctor to rule out any potential signs of skin cancer.

Β

Age spots are more common in individuals with fair skin who have spent a considerable amount of time in the sun. In our youth, natural hormones help keep these spots at bay, but as we age and experience hormonal shifts, brown spots may begin to appear. Unfortunately, once they develop, age spots tend to persist unless treated.

Β

Mainstream treatments for age spots include laser therapy, fading creams, cryotherapy, chemical peels, and cauterization. Some of these treatments have been known to leave behind white patches on the skin.

Β

If you prefer a gentle, natural approach to lighten age spots and get rid of age spots, the good news is that you can achieve this without resorting to toxic chemical treatments. πŸ˜ƒ Additionally, practicing sun protection can help prevent their recurrence. β˜€οΈ

Β

Keep in mind that age spots take years to form, so fading them naturally will also require some time and patience. Feel free to try one of the remedies below for a few months, and if you don't see improvement, you can explore other options.

So here are 9 simple, easy DIY Natural remedies to remove age spots naturally  🌿🌸

The good news is that many of these natural remedies are likely already in your fridge or pantry.

1. Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe vera is a commonly used natural remedy for various skin issues, including age spots. Apply aloe vera juice or gel directly to the dark spots for 30 minutes in the morning and evening. Rinse with lukewarm water and follow with your favourite moisturiser.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar contains natural alpha hydroxy acids that can help lighten age spots and get rid of age spots. Mix equal parts of apple cider vinegar and water, apply to the dark spots, rinse with lukewarm water, and moisturize.

3. Castor Oil

Apply a small amount of castor oil directly to the age spots in the morning and night. Massage it into the skin for a minute or two until absorbed.

4. Lemons

The citric acid in lemon juice acts as a natural bleaching agent. You can either apply a slice of lemon directly to the spots for 10 minutes, morning and evening, or dilute 1 tablespoon of lemon juice with 1 tablespoon of water and apply using a cotton bud. Rinse and moisturise afterwards.

5. Pawpaw (Papaya)

Mash ripe papaya and apply it to clean skin where the age spots are. Gently massage in a circular motion for added exfoliation.

6. Sandalwood

Massage a drop of pure sandalwood essential oil directly onto the age spots.

7. Watermelon Rind

Rub the rind of a watermelon on your age spots, then wash with lukewarm water and moisturise.

8. Cucumber Juice

Crush cucumbers and apply them to your face for 10 minutes before rinsing and moisturising.

9. Olive Oil

Morning and night, apply a small amount of olive oil directly onto the age spots and massage it into the skin for a minute or two until absorbed.

These natural DIY remedies may not yield immediate results but can be effective with consistent use over time. For very dark spots, it may take longer to see noticeable improvements.

If you have sensitive skin, exercise caution by patch testing your chosen DIY recipe or diluting it with more water to reduce the risk of irritation. πŸ˜ƒ

Hi I had a skin tag over a month ago and dermatologist saids it was keratosis which could be cancerous and should be removed or frozen
So I Egan to apply apple cider vinegar daily a few times each day. I was amazed after usage of 2 weeks and 2 days. (16 days) it fell off and skin is clear. There is some flat skin spots next to it that I am continuing to use my apple cider and caster oil regimen
But wow I am a believer
