Are you troubled by the increasing presence of flat, brown spots on your face, chest, hands, or body? 😟
If you answered yes, you may have noticed these marks referred to as age spots, liver spots, or hyperpigmentation, which tend to become more prominent as we age. Skin pigmentation issues can also be known by various names such as hyperpigmentation, freckles, sunspots, age spots, liver spots, lentigines, melasma, chloasma, hormonal pigmentation, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
While age spots are typically benign, many individuals, me included, find them unattractive and wish to get rid of age spots. 😔 However, if you have irregular, dark spots that are increasing in size or changing in colour/texture, it is advisable to consult a doctor to rule out any potential signs of skin cancer.
Age spots are more common in individuals with fair skin who have spent a considerable amount of time in the sun. In our youth, natural hormones help keep these spots at bay, but as we age and experience hormonal shifts, brown spots may begin to appear. Unfortunately, once they develop, age spots tend to persist unless treated.
Mainstream treatments for age spots include laser therapy, fading creams, cryotherapy, chemical peels, and cauterization. Some of these treatments have been known to leave behind white patches on the skin.
If you prefer a gentle, natural approach to lighten age spots and get rid of age spots, the good news is that you can achieve this without resorting to toxic chemical treatments. 😃 Additionally, practicing sun protection can help prevent their recurrence. ☀️
Keep in mind that age spots take years to form, so fading them naturally will also require some time and patience. Feel free to try one of the remedies below for a few months, and if you don't see improvement, you can explore other options.

Another ingredient to look out for is bakuchiol, it works to enhance your skin complexion and radiance. It deeply diffuses into the skin cells to reduce the appearance of dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
